본 연구는 재한 중국 유학생들의 한국 텔레비전 시청이 그들의 한국 적응에 유의한 영향을 미치는 지에 대해 문화변용과 정치사회화의 맥락에서 고찰했다. 우선, 한국텔레비전의 드라마 시청은 중국 학생들의 한국 문화변용에 해당되는 한국 의상·음식 변인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 중국 유학생들의 전반적인 한국 텔레비전 시청 역시 한국에서의 문화변용에 해당되는 한국인과의 일상·어울림변인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 중국 유학생들의 한국 텔레비전의 뉴스 및 시사교양 프로그램 시청은 한국에서의 정치사회화에 해당되는 정치·경제 변인에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 일반 이민자든 유학생이든 자신들의 문화적 정체성을 적절히 유지하면서 주류사회에 원만하게 적응하는 것은 자신뿐만 아니라 주류 사회의 발전과 통합차원에서 중요하다. 이 과정에서 대중매체, 특히 텔레비전의 역할은 매우 중요하다.

This study explored whether Chinese students` Korean television watching significantly affects their adaptation to the host society in terms of acculturation and political socialization. The results of the study are as follows: First of all, this study found that the respondents` Korean TV drama watching significantly affected their acculturation such as interest in Korean fashion/food variable. Also, the study found that the respondents` general Korean TV watching significantly affected their acculturation such as daily life/mingling behavior variable. Finally, it was found that the respondents` Korean TV news and current issues program watching significantly affected their political socialization such as interest in Korean politics and economy. It is very important that foreign students as well as regular immigrants be smoothly adapted to the host society maintaining their cultural identity. This is also important in the view of the development and integration of the host society as well as the immigrants or students themselves. In this process, the role of television is very important.
