Cheongchun, Yoo-Han Shin (1681∼?) who was a writing worker have been to Japan, having been accompanied by Tongsisa(Delegation), Chi-Jung Hong. Shin stayed in Japan for seven months. At that time, Shin was accompanied with 雨森芳州who came from Tsushima. This was a moment for Cheongchum to travel and feel Japan naturally, and to read Japan through 雨森芳州. This paper examined his such perception on Japan with a special reference to his writing titled as Collection of Cheongchun. The different perception on conflict and understanding between Korea and Japan was also examined through the relationship between him and 雨森芳州. Cheongchun admired Japanese nature, but criticized Japanese custom. However, Cheongchun observed sexual custom with a great interest, and poeticized it. Cheongchun understood Japanese social order and the ruling as the same pattern as that in Chinese Zhou Dynasty. However, Cheongchun drew a pretty positive conclusion that Japanese society being dominated by Ganpaku rather than by the Emperor is strict. His such an observation enables us to draw a conclusion that he perceived Japan as country to have a beautiful nature, people living in not good custom, and restored public social order by a strict ruling. Even though Cheongchun as a diplomatic delegate was in conflict with 雨森芳州, exchanged information through a lot of communication. He assessed that 雨森芳州has a bad impression. His such a feeling made collision a few times, and sometimes the collision was actualized. However, looking into the hidden side of the collision, it is identified that there was a human trust between him and 雨森芳州. In other words, there was an emotion of love and hatred towards each other. As a result, in 30 years, Cheongchun expressed his ardent affection towards 雨森芳州in 日東竹枝詞. As such, Cheongchun`s complicated emotion towards 雨森芳州is not different from his perception to realize the whole Japan.
