본 연구의 목적은 자폐범주성장애유아들이 로봇과 상호작용을 하는 것을 직접 관찰한 교사나 또는 로봇과의 상호작용 이후 이를 경험한 자폐범주성장애유아들을 관찰한 교사들을 대상으로 로봇의 교육적 활용에 대한 관점을 알아보는 것이었다. 이 연구는 질적 연구 방법 중에서 면담법을 사용하였으며, 교사들 10명을 면담의 대상으로 하였다. 연구결과, 유아들은 로봇과의 상호작용에서의 긍정적이었던 경험을 언어적 형태와 비언어적 형태로 적극적으로 나타내었음을 알 수 있었다. 면담을 한 대부분의 교사들은 로봇이 자폐범주성장애유아에게 다양한 자극을 제공하고, 자폐범주성장애유아와의 상호작용에서 교사나 또래와의 상호작용에서 얻을 수 없는 차별화된 형태의 상호작용을 가능하게 함으로써 교육적인 면에서의 활용도가 클 것이라고 하였다. 그러므로 로봇을 교육현장에서 활용할 경우 자폐범주성장애유아들은 로봇을 통하여 긍정적인 상호작용을 경험할 수 있고, 이에 따라 보다 나은 교육 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

The purpose of this study is to explore how teachers think about using a robot for educational purpose in children labeled with autism. The ten teachers observed children labeled with autism while they interacted with robots in the study or children labeled with autism who had expediences to interact with a robot. In this qualitative research study, these teachers were then interviewed. The interview transcripts were analyzed inductively. The results showed that children labeled with autism had positive experiences and actively expressed those experiences verbally and nonverbally. According to teachers, the robot used in the study had several components that made children labeled with autism actively interact with a robot when they play with a robot in a better way than any other interactions such as teachers or their peers. A robot can provide children labeled with autism various stimuli simultaneously such as visual, auditory, tactile that could create opportunities to find what kinds of stimuli that a child labeled with autism prefer to. A robot also can create different types of interactions that a computer create such as being able to initiate interactions. Most teachers interviewed indicated that a robot could be useful for the educational purpose in children labeled with autism.
