Diels-Alder reaction between thebaine and silylated acetylene, a dienophile, was examined. Derivatives of acetylene substituted by benzenesulfonyl group or 4-chlorobenzoyl group were applied for the reaction. Diels-Alder products and retro Diels-Alder products were obtained from the reaction.
