본 연구는 다양한 사회문제와 인간관계의 갈등으로부터 고통 받는 현대인들을 위하여 인간의 가치와 존엄성을 강조하고 관계의 중요성을 기본으로 하는 ``인간-중심 상담``을 배우고자하는 수련자들의 경험을 탐색하고 이를 바탕으로 인간-중심 상담의 활성화를 위한 방안을 모색하고자하는 목적을 가지고 있다. 연구문제는 첫째, ``인간-중심 상담이 상담자와 내담자, 상담관계에 미치는 치료적 효과는 어떠한가``, 둘째, ``인간-중심 상담자들이 상담을 배우고 적용하는 과정에서 호소하는 어려움과 문제점은 무엇인가``, 셋째, ``인간-중심 상담의 필요성과 전망은 어떠하며, 인간-중심 상담자를 위한 교육 및 훈련방향은 어떠한가``이다. 현상학기반의 질적연구로 진행되었으며, 목적적 표본추출방법(Purposive-samplingsurvey)과 스노볼 샘플링(snowball-sampling)방법에 의해 인간-중심 상담수련자 12명을 연구의 대상자로 선정하였다. 반구조화된 심층면접을 통해 자료를 얻었으며, 연구문제에 근거하여 합의적 질적 연구법(Consensual Qualitative Research: CQR)에 의한 자료분석 결과 9개의 영역이 도출되었으며, 1) 인간-중심 상담의 효과부분, 2) 인간-중심 상담의 어려움부분, 3) 인간-중심 상담의 사회적 요구됨과 활성화를 위한 대처방안부분의 세 영역으로 묶을 수 있었다. 본 연구는 인간-중심 상담의 활성화방안모색의 기초연구로 배움의 새로운 안내서가 될 것이며, 연구결과를 바탕으로 인간-중심 상담의 활성화방안모색을 위한 논의점을 제시하고 후속연구를 위한 제안을 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of counselors who learn and practice Person-Centered Counseling which emphasizes human values and the counselor- client relationship. In particular, the authors attempted to answer the following research questions: (a) What are the effects of Person-Centered Counseling on counselor, client, and their relationship?; (b) What are the main difficulties that counselors present when they are learning and practicing Person-Centered Counseling?; and (c) What are the needs and prospect of Person-Centered Counseling and which directions should counselors take in terms of education and training? A phenomenological approach was employed to identify the essence of their experiences. Twelve participants were recruited using purposive sampling and snowball sampling, and semi-structured interviews were conducted. Data were analyzed using Consensual Qualitative Research (CQR) methodology. Implications and future directions for facilitating application of Person-Centered Counseling are discussed.
