본 연구는 건축 외피에 대한 시대별 인식 변화에 대해서 고찰해 보고 있다. 근대 이전의 외피는 구조의 형식논리와 시각적인 외형의 표현논리가 일치되는 건축구축 방법을 보여 왔다. 그러나 근대 이후 건축은 기술의 발전과 사회·문화적 가치에 대한 인식 변화 등의 영향으로 그 표현에 있어서 이전과는 차이를 보이고 있다. 근대 이후 현대 건축에서는 비물질화 성향, 구조병합적 형태 성향, 패션화 성향 등의 다양한 방법으로 접근되고 있다.

This study contains about periodical change of perception, facade expression notion and background for architectural facade. The facade of pre-modern times was dominated by the architectural pattern that the formal logic of the structure and visual expression logic coincides with each other. But the contemporary architecture, which has been affected by the technological development and the changes to social and cultural value, has a different view in its expression.
