이 글은 ``집창촌``의 지도 그리기를 통해 지배적인 성담론을 분석하고, 사이-공간으로서 집창촌이 매춘여성의 몸을 어떻게 ``포함적 배제``시키는지를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 집창촌은 성매매특별법의 집중적인 타겟이 되면서 단순히 배제되는 것이 아니라 가부장적 이성애 중심의 성규범을 정상화하기 위한 공간으로써 배제됨으로써 포함되는 방식으로 작동되고 있다. 연구대상 지역인 광주 대인동 집창촌은 광주지역의 유일한 전업형 집창촌으로서 성거래가 이루어지지 않는 낮과 성거래가 이루어지는 밤의 경관이 많은 대조를 보이는 장소이다. 성거래가 이루어지지 않은 낮 시간대에는 주로 백화점과 금융기관을 다니는 중산층의 소비공간인 반면에, 성거래가 이루어지는 밤 시간대에는 성거래자들이 이 공간을 점유하게 됨으로써 공적 공간의 규칙을 교란하게 된다. 특히나 거리에서 호객하는 ``휘파리``의 높은 비중은 이 공간을 정상적인 성규범을 교란하는 사이-공간으로서의 특성을 강화시킨다. 이와 같은 대인동 집창촌의 공간적 특성이 ``벌거벗은 생명``의 특징을 지닌 매춘 여성들의 삶을 유동적이고 파편적인, 경계에 서 있는 존재로 위치지우고 있다.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the dominant sexual discourse through mapping of the red-light districts, and is to analyze how the red-light districts become liminal space where a prostitute` body become the subject of ``exclusion/inclusion.`` The red-light districts are being functioned with a method of being included by being excluded as space for normalizing patriarchal heterosexual relationship, not being excluded simply with being targeted intensively by the Anti-Prostitution Law. This paper is based on an empirical study of the ``red-light district`` in Daein-dong, Gwangju which is the only area where prostitutes reside in the city. This area shows an acute contrast in landscapes by day and night. While during the daytime sexual transactions don`t take place, this is a place of consumption mainly for the middle class that deals with department stores and financial institutions. On the other hand, during the night time when sexual transactions take place, this space is occupied by sexual dealers, thereby disturbing the rules of a public place. In particular, the high percentage of ``Street prostitution`` among total sexual transactions reinforces characteristics of Daein-dong as liminal space of disturbing a normal sexual standard. This paper argues that these spatial characteristics of red-light districts of Daein-dong are leading prostitutes` life, which can be called as a bare life, to be placed on the edge an existence of standing on the flexible and fragmentary boundaries.
