이 글에서는 2011 개정 공통경제교육과정의 목표 및 형식, 내용 체계 등을 정리한 다음에 그 문제점을 구명하고 그에 따른 개선방향을 모색해 보았다. 그 결과, 목표의 문제, 형식 및 내용 체계의 문제 때문에 공통경제교육과정의 연계성과 위계성이 파괴됐고 고등학교 공통경제교육과정이 형해화됐다는 것을 확인했고, 각각의 문제에 대한 대책은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육과정상 명시적인 목표가 없다는 문제를 해결하기 위해서는, 학교현장에서 그 목표가 비판적인 민주시민을 육성하는 데 있다는 것을 유념하여 교수·학습하는 것이 바람직하다. 둘째, 고등학교에서의 공통경제교육과정이 형해화된 형식 체계의 문제를 해결하기 위해서는, 단기적으로는 교육과정을 재개정해서 고1 <사회>를 부활시켜야 하고, 중장기적으로는 연내에 부활될 <생활경제>와 선택과목인 <경제> 중 하나를 필수과목으로 지정해야 한다. 셋째, 경제이론 위주로 구성된 내용 체계의 문제를 해결하기 위해서는, 단기적으로는 고1 <사회>를 부활시켜 외형적으로나마 연계성과 위계성을 되살리는 것이고, 중장기적으로는 실용적인 내용 체계를 독자적으로 구축하는 것이다.

In this article we have looked into the issues associated with the aim, format and the content system of the 2011 revised common economics curriculum, and have sought desirable ways to improve those issues. Following this exercise, it was confirmed that the issues with the aim, format and content system has caused the connectivity and hierarchy of common economics curriculum to be destroyed and for it to become a skeleton. The measures for these issues are as follows: 1. To resolve the issue of not having clear aim in the curriculum, it is desirable for the schools to teach and learn noting the aim of a school, which is to promote critical democratic citizen. 2. To solve the issue of skeleton common economics curriculum format system in high schools, in the short run, the curriculum should be revised again to revive subject for the high school first year. In the medium and long term, either subject, which is going to be revived before the end of the year, or subject, which is the elective subject, should be designated as the compulsory subject. 3. To solve the issue of the content systems primarily focusing on the economic theories, in the short run, subject should be revived for the first year of high school to bring back the connectivity and hierarchy even if it is just for the appearance. In the medium and long term, a practical content system should be built independently.
