Local Government Innovation: Case of Gorontalo -Indonesia

In the globalization world, innovation is one key word to respond to rapid change and dynamic environment. New era of decentralization in 2000 in Indonesia grew public expectation of local governments to innovate and develop their community`s welfare based on local potencies, local need, and local creativity (wisdom). In 2007 Ministry of National Secretariat noted that the decentralization made local governments innovated the way they work to provide better public service performance. One of them is Gorontalo Province a regional government in middle part of Indonesia. In brief this paper provides an overview on innovation processes in Gorontalo and reviews the innovation compare to other innovation in local government Indonesia and local governments in Korea. This comparative review is addressed to answer the question of: to what extent the innovation in Gorontalo compare to other local government innovation in Korea, and what else of innovation may be adapted for better Gorontalo`s Performance, and may be also provide a contribution of what can be learned from Gorontalo innovation that may be adapted by other local governments.
