본 연구는 2007년 개정 슬기로운 생활 교과서와 지도서를 다문화적인 관점에서 분석하는 것이 목적이다. 본 연구의 분석 도구는 Banks(2007) 및 여러 선행 연구들을 통하여 다문화 구성요소를 공통적으로 추출하여 문화이해, 정체성, 평등, 다양성, 편견극복, 협력과 같이 6개의 요소를 중심으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 슬기로운 생활에서는 다문화적 요소가 적게 나타났다. 전체적으로 교사가 의도적으로 다문화적 요소를 찾아내어 가르치지 않으면 다문화적인 것을 교육하기 어려울 정도로 되어 있다. 그나마 교과서에서 주로 다루고 있는 다문화적 요소는 ``정체성``에 치우쳐 있음을 발견하였다. 그 다음 다양성 측면이 많이 다루어지고 있었으나 직접적으로 여러 민족, 국가의 다양한 측면을 다루고 있지는 않았다. 그 외 문화이해, 평등성, 편견극복, 협력과 같은 요소들은 ``거의 관련이 적으나 활용 가능함``, ``관련 없음``을 뜻하는 △와 ×로 표시되어 있음을 볼 수 있다. 분석기준에 근거하여 교과서를 분석해 본 결과 교과서 전체적으로 정체성과 관련하여 우리나라 중심으로 서술된 요소가 많이 포함되어 있었다.

Entering the 21st century, the era of globalization is leaded by a the advanced of technique and science. The purpose of this study is to analysis on content of textbook ``Wise Life`` which is contained multicultural education. The first- and second-grade textbook ``Wise Life`` of the revised 2007 national curriculum was made to serve exploring and playing for studying. The multicultural components of the ``Wise Life`` textbook of the revised 2007 national curriculum was examined characteristics of multicultural education. As a result, it is founded that the 2007 revised national curriculum ``Wise Life`` is have some prepared from multicultural position in generally. Specially ``Wise Life`` textbook content was emphasized some components; understanding cultural, identification, diversity and cooperation. The ``Wise Life`` provided students for precise multicultural information but it is contained much more Korea race centered graphics and photographs. It is needed that the national curriculum should offer precise guidelines on the direction and standards of multicultural education. Because there is no accurate guidelines, many teachers is will to lead to a lack of materials of multicultural education. And the ``Wise Life`` textbook should be contained diversity of multicultural component, awaring of value different races, idelal attitude to cultural diversity and understanding cultures and lifestyles, etc.
