본고의 목적은 일본의 광역별 경제구조를 분석하는 것이다. 분석은 상위 2개의 주성분과 득점표에 의한 경제구조의 변화를 10년 단위로 검토했고 다음과 같은 결론을 도출했다. 첫째, 경제구조는 인구고령화가 빠르게 진행되고 있는 지역일수록 경제력이 약화되고 있고, 공업지역에서 생산연령의 인구이동이 구조변화 요인으로 작용했다. 둘째, 지역경제의 구조에서는 경직화가 관찰되고 있다. 광역별 분석에서 변화를 나타낸 지역이 소수에 불과했다. 셋째, 권역별 분석에서는 지역 간 상호 경제관계가 약화되고 있다. 이러한 현상은 일본의 인구가 감소하면서 경제구조의 양극화 현상이 뚜렷해지고 있다는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구의 분석은 지역경제 변화에 초점을 맞춘 것으로 대외경제를 포함한 지역경제의 분석을 필요로 한다. 그것은 고령화 진전과 인구감소의 영향이 대외지역경제에 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 이러한 연구는 향후의 과제로 남는다.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze Japan`s wide area economic structure and regional economic relations. According to principal component analysis, wide are economic was analysed in regard to (1) relation between demography and economic power and (2) relation between industrial and service sector. Analysis led to the following conclusions. First, economical structure is characterized by weak economic power in regions with aging population which has its reason in migration of population in productive age to industrial areas. Second, it showed the stiffening process of regional economic structure. Regarding to wide area economic structure this change was rather weak. Third, according to regional economic structure analysis, inter-regional economic relations are becoming weaker. As a reason considered is declining population, which result in growing disparty in economic power. This paper is focused on regional economical structure, however, it requires including external economic structure analysis. It is due to aging society and declining population, which also affects the foreign economy. It remains for future research.
