Freud defines dream as it is formed through interaction of external experiences in daily routine life and inner problems like early phase memories and experiences. Residues from daily experiences form dream-contents by deep response to our unconscious. Especially, various infantile wishes give forms and meanings to daily experiences and events. There are four mechanisms of in dream-work. These are condensation, displacement, representation, and secondary revision to change latent dream-content to manifest dream-content. It is required to trace manifest dream-content through latent dream-content for interpreting dream. Freud compares the process of dream interpretation to translating an ancient pictographic script. One can discover one`s true self when s/he find the significance of displacement and over-determination through analyzing languages, images, and names used in a dream. In this research, this writer chose Freud`s dream, ``nonvixit``. He analyzed this dream two times in his dream book. Many people who worked with Freud at his teacher-Ernst Brucke`s research institute were playing the roles of displaced images, hostile relationships. His Oedipal feeling to his father and his hostile competitiveness against Fliess were hidden in the dream. According to Schur, this dream had significance of mourning for Freud`s father, i.e. second anniversary dream. Through this study of Freud`s own interpretation of his dream, one may be able to find the tool to analyze one`s own self and to apply this knowledge to understanding counselees from an analytic perspective.
