오늘날 사진과 조각은 제작, 재료, 물성, 방법 등에서 극과 극으로 상충되는 장르지만 디지털 테크놀로지의 힘을 빌려 두 개의 장르가 서로 혁신적으로 흡수, 통합, 혼성, 해체되어 ``사진 조각(photo sculpture)``이라는 탈경계 융합 장르로 탄생되고 있다. 본 연구는 디지털시대의 시대적 이슈인 ``융복합``과 ``탈장르``의 조류에 기인한 ``사진 조각`` 의 접목과 해체적 표현을 6명의 국내 대표적 사진 조각 작가의 작품을 중심으로 연구, 분석함으로써 현대 사진 조각의 융합 발전을 도모하고 그것에 의해 파생된 디지털 아트, 광고디자인 등 시각컨텐츠의 융복합과 활용 영역을 확대하는 데 목적이 있다. 즉 융복합시대의 사진 조각은 해체론의 영향으로 탈경계적 양상과 차원의 교차, 현실과 환영, 혼성과 착시의 세계를 지향하고 있다. 사진 조각 표현의 특징은 사진의 분해, 중첩, 재조립, 재배치, 투명한 조형물에 삽입 크기와 표피(表皮) 의 해체, 영상 추가 등으로 발전되어 사진과 조각의 벽을 허문다 그러나 . 사진 조각의 근원적 유사성과 재생, 보관의 한계 등 역기능이 발견되기도 한다. 따라서 본 연구는 융복합 차원과 정신에 의해사진 조각의 특장점뿐만 아니라 문제점 파악과 극복, 발전적 방향성과 전망 등에 대해 기술하였다.
Today, photograph and sculpture, as the polar opposites, conflict with each other in their production, materials, properties of matter, and method, etc, but both of them are being reborn as a cross-boundary convergence genre of ``photo sculpture`` with the two genres mutually innovatively absorbed, integrated, blended and deconstructed by borrowing the strength of digital technology. This study aims at promoting the convergent development of the modern photo sculpture and expanding the convergence of visual contents, such as digital art and advertising design derived from the convergent development of the ``photo sculpture``, and the realm of their use through the research and analysis of the integration and deconstructive representation of ``photo sculpture`` attributable to the sort of ``Convergence`` and ``Deconstruction of Genre``-the issue of the times in the Digital Age- with focus on 6 domestic authors of ``photo sculpture.`` In short, the photo-sculpture in the age of convergence is aiming at the world of the cross-over of the de-boundary aspects and level, reality and phantasm, and blending & optical delusion by the influence of the deconstruction theory. The characteristics of ``photo-sculpture`` are developed into a photo`s disassembly, superimposition, re-assembly, re-placement, insertion into a transparent sculpture, deconstruction of a size and scarfskin, and its image addition, etc. to break down the barrier between a photo and sculpture. However, there is discovered the adverse effects such as a sourceful similarity, regeneration, and limitations of its preservation. Accordingly, this study described not only the strong points of photo-sculpture but also the understanding and surmounting of its problems, and developmental directivity and prospects, etc. based on the level and spirit of convergence.
