In the traditional grammar, the constructions with the verbs SER & ESTAR have been analyzed by the properties of the predicates (RAE, 1973). However, these studies can`t explain various examples of the copulative construction in Spanish and the students suffer difficulties to learn it. That it to say, the education of the verbs SER, ESTAR based on this point of view shows many problems. The purpose of this paper is to examine the properties of the copulative constructions, and to apply that reanalysis to the education of the grammar. In this study, I propose that the differences between the copulative constructions in Spanish don`t be derived from the properties of the predicates but from the feature EVENT, to be exact, that feature influences to the selection of the copulative constructions. Under this view, the feature EVENT transforms Individual-Level predicates into Stage-Level predicates.
