본 연구자는 현대음악의 교육적 가치를 바탕으로 현재 고등학교 음악수업의 실정을 보완 할 수 있는 지도방안에 대하여 모색하였다. 먼저 고등학교 음악교과서 3종을 분석하고 그 중 쇤베르크의 《달에 홀 린 피에로》를 중심으로 1·2차시의 수업 지도안을 제시하였으며 이해·창작·감상 영역의 통합적인 지 도 방식을 따른 시청각적 경험 통한 학습내용으로 구성하였다. 새로움을 접했을 때 인간은 누구나 반응 하게 되며 이를 통해 또 다른 창조의 세계로 문을 열게 된다. 이와 마찬가지로 학생들 또한 현대음악을 학습함으로써 자아를 일깨워 새로운 자신을 발견할 수도 있을 것이며 나아가 21세기의 세계로 발돋움 할 수 있는 계기가 될 것이다. 이는 현대음악이 의미하는 교육으로서의 가치이며 이유이다. 현대음악은 범위가 넓고 다양하며 음악적인 난해함도 존재하기 때문에 학습에 있어 다소 어려움이 따른다. 그렇기 때문에 이를 보완하고 해결하기 위한 지도방법 연구는 앞으로도 계속될 것이며, 현대음악에 대한 구체 적이고 심도 깊은 교육이 이루어진다면 21세기 인간으로서의 보다 효율적인 학습이 가능해질 것이다.

I seek for the teaching method that can upgrade an actual music class in high school, based on an educational value of modern music. At first, after analyzing three kinds of textbooks in high school, I suggest first & second teaching plans based on Schoenberg`s Pierrot Lunaire and compose comprehensive audiovisual experiences on the sphere of comprehension, creation and appreciation as learning contents. When a person encounters something new, he will naturally respond it and so open to another world of creation. Likewise, by learning contemporary music, students can grasp who they are, discover something new in themselves, and get significant opportunities to go into the 21th century. That is why modern music offers them such a valuable educational experience. Because contemporary music can be widely applied, various and often esoteric, it can be difficult to learn it. Therefore, teaching method research for improving and solving problems should continue in the years to come. If an extensive and detailed musical education is achieved, students in the 21th century can have more efficient experience than before.
