Seolingui was the heroic general of Tang dynasty in the Korean history. He won the war between Gogurye and Tang at the period of the Three Kingdoms. And then he was defeated the war of Shilla against to Tang dynasty. Also he is the mountain god of the Mt. Gamak and the hero of many Korean tales. So Seolingui is the important person in Korean history, folk belief and oral literature. The peoples of Shilla have worshiped Seolingui as the God of the Mt. Gamak. This is the first clue of the Seolingui tales. When the Kitan had invaded into Korea at 11th century, peoples had believed that the Seolingui mountain god had dropped back them at Jangdan battle. On the other hand, the Seolingui worship had been transmitted into the individual belief mixed with shamanism. At the Choseon dynasty, the upper peoples had recognised the Seolingui worship as wrong belief. So, the Seolingui tales had transmitted the mysterious tombstone tales, the birthplace tales and the growth tales. These transmission of the Seolingui tales have faced each other the transition of the Seolingui worship.
