본고의 목적은 다문화 사회에서 요구되는 바람직한 윤리적 가치의 규범을 효의 윤리를 통해 탐색해 보고자 하는데 있다. 우리나라는 단일 민족의 동질성에 기초하여 민족주체가 확고한 나라였지만 오늘날 세계화시대를 맞아 다인종, 다문화 사회로 급속히 진전하고 있다. 다문화 사회에서의 올바른 가치관 형성과 사회통합의 질서를 확립하기 위해서 무엇보다도 보편적 가치를 가진 규범이 필요하다. 다문화주의는 문화적 다양성을 서로 인정하고 존중하면서 공존하는데 그 목적이 있다. 다문화 사회를 살아가는 데 있어서는 무엇보다도 자신과 다른 문화적 관점을 이해하고 존중하며 문화적 차별을 지양하는 세계시민적 민주시민의 자질향상이 형성되어야 한다. 효는 교육의 본령으로서 인간행동의 근원이요, 덕의 기본으로 인간을 인간답게 만드는 근간이다. 진정한 효는 사랑하고 공경하는 것이니 자신의 부모를 사랑하고 공경하는 사람은 다른 사람도 사랑하고 공경할 것이다. 따라서 효의 윤리는 개인의 윤리에 그치는 것이 아니라 사람과 사람 간의 윤리, 사회의 윤리, 공동체 의식을 갖게 하는 국가의 윤리로 확충되어 감을 알 수 있다. 본고는 한국 전통적 효의 본래적 의미를 분석하여 다문화 사회의 보편적 가치로서 화합과 통합의 세계로 이끌어 갈 원동력이 될 수 있는 윤리를 도출하고자 하였다. 이러한 결과 자신의 인격을 갖추고 스스로 자기다움을 찾아가는 사람다움의 윤리, 사회적 관계의 기초로서 다른 사람에 대한 배려와 수용과 존중, 용서 등의 친밀성을 근거로 하는 인간관계의 윤리, 사회적 책임을 바탕으로 다양성의 조화를 꾀하려는 질서의 윤리로서의 의미를 찾을 수 있었다. 따라서 효의 윤리는 다문화 사회를 이끌어 갈 수 있는 현대 윤리로서의 가치와 우리 민족이 주체가 되어 타문화를 폭넓게 수용하여 세계화 시대를 열어가는 데 그 의의가 충분하다고 볼 수 있다.
The aims of this study lies in theorizing the proper norms in multicultural society through the Hyo Ethics. These days Korean society are in shift becoming multi ethical-cultural. To harmonize and order themselves, they need some common norms. Multicultural society used to be oriented to continue their harmony by recognizing others` different cultures. The people in multicultural society are asked to approve the different cultures each other, developing their international properties by recognizing them. The Hyo(filial piety) is the root of all human attitudes and the base of virtue. It makes a man a human nature-being. He(She) who loves his (and her) own parents may surely love others parents. It continues to be distributed in the relations between all men, until it becomes the standard for evaluating the societies and natures. This study tries to essue the standard ethics to harmonize the cultural society through serveying the meaning of Korean traditional ethics(Hyo). There can be three meanings of Hyo through this study. The first is the ethic to be a true man by cultivating himself. The second, the ethic on the base of the human relations, the familiarities with others and the social fundamental relations, On the point of these the Hoy can be said the ethics to order and harmonize society and consider others as his(her) The finding are the following. As a result, Hyo(the filial piety) may value as a modern ethics to harmonize multicultural society.
