The purpose of this paper is to see how text linguistic theories can be applied in the analysis and interpretation of texts, by surveying how the concept and theories of text linguistics have been applied in the field of Korean Linguistics and its adjacent academic fields. Except for individual dissertation papers written for a degree, most papers dealing with text linguistics in Korea appear in the academic journal Text Linguistics published by The Textlinguistic Research Society (which became the official journal of the The Textlinguistic Society of Korea since its 5th publication) since it was first published in 1993. Therefore we will be focusing on the papers that were published through this journal, in surveying the structure, themes and the brief history of the subject of our research. This paper will be developed with focuses on, a theoretical study about texts, concentrating on ``texuality`` and ``text processing`` and a study about the connection between text linguistics and its adjacent fields. In the theoretical study, the structure, function and types of texts will be analyzed. In the study about text linguistics` connection to other fields, the connection with the fields of literature, stylistics and language education were analyzed. Language education was further divided into the categories of Korean Language education - including reading and writing, grammar and literature education - and Foreign language education - related to the fields of translation and interpretation.
