In this paper I want to show how Critical Discourse Analysis(CDA) can be applied in (text)linguistic research and can thereby contribute to the answering of questions that are part of interdisciplinary investigations. The CDA-based textlinguistic model views discourse as groupings of text and statements, and is rooted in three central dimensions that combines the textlinguistic micro-dimension-analysis with the macro-dimension of the wider intertextual and discoursive context. In order to arrive at an adequate textlinguistic understanding of discourse, the model focuses on these dimensions with regards to complex language phenomena on differing language structure dimensions. This multiple dimension model integrates current methods of textlinguistic analysis and critical discourse analysis, in order to determine function, structure and meaning of language phenomena of discourse on intertextual and transtextual dimensions.
