Multicultural education of the United States is a good reference to designing of Korean multicutural education programs and curricula. In fact, many studies in korea refer to the U.S. case. However research on the characteristics and developments of multicultural education in the United States are rare. Being keep this in the mind, this article analyses the change of population composition which has affected the evolution MCE of the U.S., the progress of multiculturalism in America, and the reality of multicultural education. What is the implication of MCE of the U.S. to Korean Multicultural education? This is the main theme of this thesis. There are enormous differences between the Korea and the U.S. in policy milieu and the context of MCE. It is absurd to apply the experience of the U.S. to Korean MCE without modification. But the multicultural education policy of the U.S. can have meaning to Korean multicultural education. In addition, the reflection and philosophy of MCE of the U.S. can help search for appropriate MCE of Korea.
