Among our senses the sight is the one which we cart control the best. Moreover the sight is the sense which can also express our will the best. For this reason, the act of looking physical environment has become a symbol of the will of territorial possession(or domination). Therefore, it is natural that the will of territorial possession aroused by looking physical environment should be reflected in the expression of landscape. But there are two modes of expression in landscape. The one is the landscape as expression of possession. And the other is the landscape as expression of enjoyment, which can be seen as a different mode of possession. The aim of this study is to identify the meaning of proto-landscape and aesthetic-landscape by comparative examining the aspects of the two modes of expression of landscape : possession and enjoyment.
