이명박정부의 통일방안은 김영삼정부 시기에 제시된 ``민족공동체통일방안``을 수용하면서 대북정책의 슬로건을 ``상생과 공영정책``으로 제시했다. 그러나 통일을 염두에 뒀다고는 하지만 ``통일``이 빠지고 ``화해``나 ``평화``가 그 자리를 메웠다는 것은 ``통일``에 대한 염원과 상상력을 그만큼 약화시켰다고 볼 수도 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 역대 정부의 통일방안 또는 대북정책을 개괄적으로 정리하고 이명박정부의 대북정책에 대해 현황을 정리하고 그에 대한 평가를 통해 전망을 해보기로 한다. 그리고 이명박정부의 대북정책에 따른 남북관계의 상황을 점검해보기로 한다.
