This study investigates the factors affecting consumers` purchase intention toward GM foods with different characteristics. A survey shows that one of the main reasons that consumers have concerns over consumption of GM foods is unproven safety of the foods. Responses of purchasing GM foods are 2.5 times lower than responses of not purchasing them. The results demonstrate that the more consumers perceive benefits of GM foods to society, the more they purchase those foods. In addition, it is indicated that the married is less likely to buy relatively cheap GM foods compared to a single.
