In Jang Jung-il`s works, the father is an important motive to understand his thought. This paper is to investigate the implicated meaning of the father in ``searching for father`` instead of resistance to the father, the conventional father that means the existing order/power/law in his plays. For the reason that shows the father what he is in Jang Jung-il`s plays, this study aims at studying the paternal function in his plays based on Lacanian subject theory. To Lacan the father function or the paternal function is also referred to as the Name-of-the-Father, the symbolic father. The father function is not the function played by the individual father, it may be fulfilled by another one who becomes a ``father figure``. The father keeps the child at a certain distance from its mother, thwarting the child`s attempt to become forever one with the mother, or forbidding the mother from achieving certain satisfactions with her child, or both. The three mechanisms that constitute the essential psychoanalytic categories in subjectivization all concern the paternal function. That is, foreclosure of psychosis, disavowal of perversion, primal repression of neurosis are connected with the Name-of-the-Father. Simply put, in psychosis, oedipal prohibition of mOther`s jouissance does not occur. Without alienation, there is psychosis. Alienation without separation leads to perversion, the pervert doesn`t substitute the demand of the mOther by one signifier, the Name-of-the-Father. And alienation and separation without the traversing of fantasy lead to neurosis. In fact, in Jang Jung-il`s plays a main character is the son within relationship with mother, no father. The mother is represented in his plays has not held the father function. The mOther who doesn`t depend on the Name-of-the-Father is a character has taken jouissance with penis of the ``son``. So the son in his texts wishes to escape from mOther, no father. The mother doesn`t have a conventional maternal affection, she must be obscene. But the son worships a saint image of mother. So two images of the mother or the feminine represented in his texts are a saint and a whore. Of course the whores must be punished by the hero/son to make the paternal function and to reduce to his anxiety. Here he can be the saint/the criminal. He wants to make separation, because the son has not performed separation in subjectivization. Finally this paper shows that the son is represented in his texts is the pervert who tries to carry out the symbolic father. As a result, this paper insists that Jang Jung-il`s plays are a kind of staging castration, performing separation from mOther.
