``學而優則仕``는 춘추시대 교학사상을 대표하는 동시에 정치적 함의를 가지고 있다. 이 정치적 함의는 유가의 ``內聖外王``으로 전개되었으며, 자연스럽게 정치와 교육의 연계성을 가지게 했다. 철학적, 학문적 해석을 축으로, 정치와 교육이 지니게 된 연계성은 漢代 이후, 특히 隋와 唐朝를 지나면서 과거제도로 나타나게 되었다. 그러므로 ``學而優則仕``의 교학사상을 연구한다는 것은 전통적으로 유가사상이 고민해 온 통치자의 바른 신념과 일신을 위한 유혹 사이의 가치관을 분석한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 나아가서 통치자가 선비들에게 어떻게 대할 것인가에 관한 근거와 도덕적 수양의 정도를 파악하게 해 준다. 결국 교학사상에 대한 연구는 통치자의 자각적 반성과 통치 대상에 대한 원칙을 분명히 한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 ``敎``와 ``學``은 정치사상을 형성하는 데 의미 있게 개입할 수 있다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 고대 중국의 ``學而優則仕``의 의미가 정치사상과 교학사상의 시대적 연계성으로 인해 후세에 지속적으로 어떤 영향을 주었는가에 주목하였다. 이 과정에서 유가사상이 개인수양은 물론 사회현장에서 적절히 적용될 수 있다는 점은 시대적 의미가 있으며, ``學而優則仕``에 대한 시대적 해석과 적용은 본 연구의 학술적 가치를 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다.

``Xueeryouzeshi`` represents the teaching and learning ideology of the Warring County Period, and, at the same time, it has a political implication. This political implication was developed by a Confucian scholar`s ``Neishengwaiwang``, and it naturally made it possible to create a connectivity between politics and education. The connectivity cultivated between politics and education centering on the axis of political, academic interpretation, came to be shown as a state system while specifically extended through the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. Therefore, research into the teaching and learning ideology of ``Xueeryouzeshi`` may be an analysis of the view of values between the right faith and the temptation to gain personal success within a ruler, which had been thought about seriously in a Confucian scholar`s ideology, traditionally. Furthermore, it enables the identification of the level of the basis and of the moral cultivation as to how a ruler would respond to classical scholars. Ultimately, research into the teaching and learning ideology may be to clarify the perceived self-retrospect of a ruler and the principle concerning those who are subjected to rule. In addition, it was discovered that ``teaching`` and ``learning`` may be meaningfully involved in creating a political ideology. This study focused on the way in which the meaning of ``Xueeryouzeshi`` in ancient China has consistently affected the later generations owing to the connectivity between political ideology and teaching and learning ideology in terms of sharing the same era. In this process, it was meaningful in light of the era that a Confucian scholar`s ideology can be properly applied, not only in personal cultivation but also in social fields, and the interpretation and application of ``Xueeryouzeshi`` in consideration of the era will be able to offer the academic value of this study.
