본 연구의 목표는 학구적 요인과 사회적 요인이 청소년들의 학습에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 종단적으로 비교분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 우리나라 중고등학생들의 유능성과 관계성이 내재동기를 매개로 하여 공부시간의 구조적 관계를 검증하고, 시간의 흐름에 따라서 이들 변인들이 어떻게 변화하며 이들 변인들간의 구조적 관계가 어떻게 달라지는지 검증하였다. 더 나아가 본 연구는 나아가, 유능성, 관계성, 내재동기, 그리고 공부시간의 구조적 관계가 남학생과 여학생 집단에서 어떠한 차이를 나타내는지도 분석하였다. 본 연구는 한국교육개발원이 2005년부터 중학교 1학년 학생을 대상으로 실시한 한국교육종단연구의 2차년부터 5차년까지의 자료를 이용하여 다변량 잠재성 장모형(multivariate latent growth modeling)을 통하여 검증하였다. 본 연구의 분석결과, 시간의 흐름에 따라 내재동기의 변화의 폭이 높아질수록 공부시간의 변화의 폭이 유의미하게 증가하였다. 유능성의 경우에도 유능성의 변화율이 높을수록 내재동기 변화율과 공부시간 변화율이 더욱 높아졌다. 또한 남녀 집단에서 연구모형의 검증이 어떻게 다르게 나타나는지 종단분석을 한 결과 이들 변인들 간의 구조적 관계에서 남녀차가 일부 나타남을 확인하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 학습상황에서 내재동기와 유능성의 초기값도 중요하지만, 이들 변인들이 일관되게 증가하는 것이 더욱 중요함을 발견하였고, 본 연구결과에 대하여 논의하였다.

The purpose of the present study is to analyze the effect of students` competence and relatedness on studying time through intrinsic motivation using Multivariate Latent Growth Modeling. We investigated the structural equation among competence, relatedness, intrinsic motivation and studying time, and testified how the structural relationships have been changed longitudinally based on gender differences. In the present study we used the longitudinal data of T2(2006)~T5(2009), KEDI has developed since 2005. The result shows that as the slope of change in intrinsic motivation increased, the slope of change in studying time increased. As for competence, as the slope of competence increased, the slope of intrinsic motivation and studying time increased. The gender differences in longitudinal analysis showed the significant differences between genders partly. The present study indicated that not only the initial level of competence and intrinsic motivation, but also the slope of change in competence and intrinsic motivation are important for learning outcomes.
