본 논문은 하버마스의 논증이론을 고찰한다. 논증이란 하버마스에 따르면 첫째, 언어적 행위의 합리성에 대한 심급이다. 따라서 다양한 합리적 언어사용을 설명하기 위해서는 그에 부합되는 다양한 논증유형이 있어야 한다. 둘째, 논증유형은 일상 언어에 대한 형식 화용론적 재구성을 통해 도출된다. 이러한 하버마스의 논증이론은 일상 언어에 대한 재구성을 통해 획득되는 한에서 수사학적 지평을 수용하는 것이며 동시에 형식 화용론적으로 도출되는 한에서 보편적 타당성을 잃지 않는다고 평가할 수 있다.

This article deals with Habermas`s theory of argumentation. According to Habermas, first, argumentation is the criteria for evaluating rational linguistic action. In oder to explain diverse use of language, there must be the types of argumentation corresponding to that diversity. Second, the types of argumentation are resulted from the formal-pragmatical reconstruction of ordinary language. Habermas`s theory of argumentation accepts the rhetorical needs insofar as it is resulted from the reconstruction of ordinary language, and keeps the universal validity insofar as the types of argumentation are formulated by formal pragmatics.
