인천항이 우리나라 중심항만으로서 역할을 하기 위해서는 고부가가치 항만산업 육성을 위한 지역발전전략의 수립이 필요하다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 맥락에서, 본 연구는 인천지역 항만산업의 경쟁력을 강화시켜 지속적인 물동량 창출이 가능한 고부가가치 항만산업 육성을 위한 전략과제를 제시하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 전략과제를 요약하면 첫째, 국가중심항만으로서의 역할을 수행해기위해 항만적기투자와 원양항로 네트워크의 확보가 선행되어야 할 것이다. 둘째, 물동량 창출의 고부가가치 배후단지를 개발하기 위해 시장지향형의 물류비즈니스 모델개발, 안정적인 부가가치 창출을 위한 제조와 물류산업의 연계 방안 모색 등이 요구된다. 셋째로는 항만관련 부가가치 성장산업으로는 국제크루즈 산업과 수도권 통합 조선단지 조성 등이 매우 필요한 부분이라 할 수 있을 것이다.

The role and possibility of Incheon port industry area as the center of Northeast port-logistics is getting more significant since Incheon new port which will be built with phase-Ⅰuntil 2013, when considering geographical superior of Incheon area in Northeast Asian region. Therefore, it is needed to prepare an appropriate strategy for fostering the high value-added port-logistics industry to maximize economic effects by attracting port business and its related business into Incheon international port and its hinterland. However, the related research for developing the port-logistics industry in Incheon area has not been sufficiently studied. Hence, the purpose of this study is to propose a strategic task on promoting a high value-added port industry. To achieve this research aim, this study reviewed existing studies and situation and problems of Incheon port industry and proposed an appropriate and strategic task for fostering the high value-added port-logistics industry through data analysis of Korea national statistical office and bank of Korea.
