본 연구는 저소득층 학생을 대상으로 실시한 교육 및 보육지원 프로그램인 에듀케어 프로그램의 효과를 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 저소득층에 포함되는 초등학생으로서 에듀케어 프로그램에 참여하는 실험집단과 통제집단으로 구분하였다. 본 연구를 통해서 효과를 알아보고자 하는 에듀케어 프로그램은 약 5개월 동안 진행되었으며, 프로그램 실시 전후에 기초학습능력진단검사와 적응능력검사를 사전·사후검사로 활용하여 효과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 에듀케어 프로그램에 참여한 실험집단은 통제집단에 비해 기초학습능력에서 향상을 보였으며, 하위영역 중 수리능력은 통계적으로 유의미하였다. 또한, 적응능력에서도 실험집단이 통제집단보다 프로그램 실시 후 향상되었으며, 하위영역 중 성취지향성은 통계적으로 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 통해, 에듀케어 프로그램은 저소득층 학생의 기초학습능력과 적응능력의 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다고 볼 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of the Edu-Care program on adolescents` learning and adaptation ability. The participants in the research are 425 elementary students from low-income families. Half of them were randomly assigned to the treatment group, and the other half were assigned to the control group. Students in the treatment group participated in the Edu-Care program for 6 months. Learning and adaptation ability of all participants were measured before and after implementation of the program. While the pre-test scores indicated that both groups are homogeneous, comparison of post-test scores revealed that the treatment group significantly scored higher on the mathematics and achievement motivation tests. The findings of this study imply that the Edu-Care program may have a significant, positive effect on adolescents` learning and adaptation ability.
