본 연구는 소통을 본질로 하는 ``원초적 언어``로서 춤의 언어성과 기호성을 전제로 한국춤의 객관성과 보편성 획득을 위한 동작언어학적 분석과 의미체계 연구이다. 민족성·현대성·대중성을 전제로 춤의 언어체계에 대한 접근방식은 첫째, 춤인류학적 접근으로서 민족춤 언어학이며, 둘째, 춤기호학적 접근을 통한 춤의 구조와 소통방식, 의미체계의 파악이다. 춤의 ``동작언어``란 춤의 매체인 몸 움직임의 인위적이고 구조적인 표현성, 언어성, 기호성을 포함하는 신체 행동 체계로써, 이는 최소단위의 동작들이 구성 원리를 통해 관계를 설정하고 의미를 형성하며, 민족의 사상과 세계관을 담고 있는 구성체로써의 개념이다. 봉산탈춤은 한국춤의 역사적 특수성을 지닌 민족춤이며, 원초적·근원적·전형적 민속춤이면서, 당대 사회문화의 표현을 주도한 ``대표문화``라 할 만하다. 봉산탈춤의 기본 춤사위이자 춤동작이 다양하고 분명한 목중춤을 논제의 대상으로 삼아 동작학적으로 접근하여 움직임 원리와 특성을 파악하였으며, 이를 토대로 언어학적으로 접근하여 동작언어학적 분석을 시도하였다. 동작언어학적 분석은 춤의 언어적 특성, 동작단위체계, 동작의 의미단위 형성과 구조적 특성을 통해 춤의 내재적 원리와 규칙을 파악하기 위한 방법론이다. 춤의 언어체계, 즉 의미형성의 원리를 파악하기 위해 움직임의 최소단위를 설정하고, 그 관계와 연결방식을 살펴본 후에 의미체계를 분석, 고유의 문화적 문법에 근거하여 해석하고자 하였다. 이는 한국춤 속에 내재하는 근원적 문화코드의 발견을 위한 민족춤 언어학적 연구로써 의미를 갖는다.
The study is on the purpose of linguistic analysis of the kinesics and significance system to get the generalization and the objectivity of Korean dances on the preconditions of language and significance of dance language as ``primary language``. The approaches to the language systems of dance on the base of nationality, modernity, and popularity would be not only national dance linguistics as dance-anthropological method but also understanding the structure, the communicative ways, and significance systems in dance. ``The kinesic-language`` in dance can be a certain body action system containing artificial and structural expressiveness, linguistics, and semiology, which establishes their relations of actions as a minimal unit by its composition, generates its meaning, and contains the thoughts and the views of the nation. Bongsantalchum can be one of the representative culture of the period, which led the society as a national dance, primitive, original, typical Korean folk dance which have historical specifications. So, the thesis is focus on Mokchungchum which has a standard and various movements. The approaches and analyses about the kinesic-inguistic are as like following. 1. Linguistic Feature: Since Korean dances are phonetic symbols in linguistics aspects, the signified meanings are formed or specified resulting from the relations, connection, and currency between one action and another action, rather than getting its own meaning in most of the actions. Also the unit of every motion has independent but sequential characteristics. 2. Unit System: The motion units to conduct linguistic analyses of the kinesics are established as motion unit
