This study explores the ways to increase the gross income of Korean apple farms prior to opening of their markets to foreign competitors. To begin with, I analyzed trend of supply and demand, and after that, carried out a survey on apple farms in order to find out appropriate supporting methods to increase the gross income. The survey showed that the apple farms were already making efforts to innovate not only the general production process, but also that of sorting, packaging, and manufacturing apples. In particular, such things as expanding cultivation areas, developing orchards dense with apple frees, producing functional apples, grading apples with accuracy, packaging apples with fewer units, and operating low temperature storages are considered significant. Besides, improvement of culturing skills has been found out to have very affirmative effects on increasing in gross income of apple farm households.
