The objective of this study is to suggest the policy direction for promoting agro food export in Korea. To achieve the goal of the study, this study investigates the value and importance of agro food export in Korea. Also the analysis of external and internal environments around the Korean agro food export are conducted, particularly with the analysis of trade pattern and major factors affecting the export. Major results are as follows. Firstly, considering the recent and future potentiality of agro food industry, the possibility of Korean agro food export is promising. Secondly, the Korean agro food trade patterns show the increase of specialization and the decrease of intra trade with major trade partners. Thirdly, the Korean agro food export tends to be increased by reducing the distance from Korea to major trade partners. Fourthly, many challenges and opportunities exist simultaneously in the Korean agro food export. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effective action plan to enhance the Korean agro food export in terms of diversification of export products and countries, decrease in high dependence on overseas Koreans, differentiation of export marketing by trade partner, expansion of R & D on agro food industry and change of the concept on agro food export.
