許筠(1569년, 선조 3년-1618년, 광해군 10년)은 시대를 초월한 삶과 문학적기행을 보여준 작가이다. 본 논문은 허균이 지향하는 삶을 許筠「傳」을 중심으로 고찰해 보는데 그 목적이 있다. 허균은 현실 세계에 대한 불만을 해소해 줄 수 있는 새로운 인간형을 갈구하고 있었다. 「嚴處士傳」은 「學論」에서 비판한 僞學者들에게 경계가 될 만한 참된 儒者의 모습을 드러내고자 하였다. 그러므로 許筠은 엄처사는 뚜렷한 출처관과 역사 인식을 가지고 孝와 敬을 실천한 선비라는 점을 부각시켰다. 「蓀谷山人傳」은 許筠에게 시를 가르친 스승 李達(1539-1618(?))에 대한 인물전이다. 허균은 이를 통하여 뛰어난 시적 재능과 노력, 시인으로서의 숭고미, 현세를 초탈한 시인의 삶을 입전하고자 했음 알 수 있다. 또한 「南宮先生傳」에서는 삶은 끝없는 좌절과 고뇌의 연속이라는 진리를 보여주고자 했다. 주인공 남궁두는 좌절과 고뇌 속에서 현실 세계를 떠나 신선의 세계에서 새로운 삶을 찾지만, 終局에는 인간의 품으로 돌아왔다. 이는 인간에게 주어진 숙명에 순응하는 인생이 가장 즐거운 삶이라는 것을 알았기 때문일 것이다. 허균은 잦은 浮沈에 괴로워했던 자신의 삶을 남궁두라는 주인공을 통해 위로 받고 싶었던 것이다.

Heo-Kyoon(1569, Seonjo, 3rd year, Gwnahaegun, 10th year) was a writer who showed timeless life and literary excentricity. This study aims to review the life that Heo-Kyoon aims for, being focused on Heo-Kyoon`s . Heo-Kyoon was yearning for a new human type who can relieve complaints about the real world. "Eomcheosajeon" tried to show truthful "Yoosang"(Confucian scholar) who could alert the "Wihakja(persons who pretend to be truthful scholar)" who were criticized in "Hakron". Therefore, Heo-Kyoon tried to emphasize that Eomcheosa was a classic scholar who practised "Hyo(filial duty)" and "Gyung(dutiful respect)" with definite view about source and historical perception. "Songoksaninjeon" is a story of Lee, Dal(1539-1618(?)), a teacher who taught poetry to Heo-Kyoon. Heo-Kyoon, through this, tried to deliver the message about his great poetic talent, effort, sublime as a poet, the life of a poet who transcended mundane life. In "Namgungseonsangjeon", he tried to show the truth that a life was a series of endless frustration and anguish. "Namgundu", left the real world in frustration and anguish and found a new life in the world of Taoist hermits, but he returned to the arms of a human being, in the end. It seems that he realized that the life that adapted itself to the given destiny was the most enjoyable life. Heo-Kyoon wanted his life suffering from frequent highs and lows, consoled by "Namgungdu" the hero.
