茶는 고조선 때 유입되어 우리 민족과 고락을 같이 하면서 오늘날까지 그 명맥을 이어 오고 있다. 처음에는 신에게 올리는 제물로 사용되었으나, 삼국 시대, 고려, 조선을 거치면서 점차 생활에도 확산되어 궁중은 물론 서민에 이르기까지 의식 때에는 물론이요 일상적으로도 즐기게 되었다. 이에 따라 차는 차도구의 필요에 의해 도자기의 발달은 물론이요, 다실의 필요에 따른 건축 양식, 차와 곁들여 먹던 茶食, 차를 마실 때 입던 茶禮服 등 우리 생활의 여러 가지 부문에 걸쳐 다양한 발달을 가져오는 계기를 마련했다. 특히, 지식층에 속하는 일부 우리 선조들은 漢詩를 짓고 즐기는 생활을 하였는데, 그 중에서는 차를 소재로 한 것들도 많이 있다. 이러한 차를 소재로 한 茶詩는 다른 한시가 갖는 시대 정황이나 지은이의 사상 외에 시대별로 선조들의 차 생활과 차 정신을 속속들이 알 수 있다는 점에서 중요한 위치를 차지하고 있다. 차를 즐겼던 수많은 유학자, 승려, 道學者들은 나름대로의 차 생활을 즐기면서 茶禮儀式, 茶禪一如 思想, 神仙 思想의 법도와 체계를 세웠는데, 이러한 사상들은 단순히 차 생활이나 차 정신의 바탕뿐만이 아니라 그 시대를 지배하는 사상과 철학, 예술, 종교 정신의 바탕이 되었다. 이것은 충효 정신, 선비의 지조와 절개, 부녀자의 정절과 일맥상통하는 것으로 우리 민족이 자랑스럽게 여기는 전통 문화의 근저를 이루는 것이다. 본고에서는 古代로부터 고려 시대까지의 우리나라 茶詩의 시대적인 발달 과정을 살펴봄으로써 그 사회적, 문학적 배경을 提高해 보고자 한다. 선비들의 높은 차정신의 세계와 기풍, 茶詩를 통한 벗과의 돈독한 교분, 자연과 합일하여 그 속에서 안정과 교감을 이루고 脫俗의 경지에서 자연의 이치를 즐긴 생활, 차의 약리적인 면을 귀중히 여겨 생활의 일부로 음용했던 지혜의 면모를 살펴봄으로써 茶詩의 특징과 내면의 멋을 되새겨 보는 계기로 삼아, 이들 속에서 茶詩가 갖는 문학적 가치를 논해봄으로써 우리 차 문화의 정신을 나름대로 정립해 보고자 한다.

The tea was first introduced to people of Korea from the time of Kochoson(early ancient times) as part of their life to these days. From the era of the Three Kingdoms(Koguryo, Backjae, and Shila), Koryo, and Chosun, the tea was first used as an offering to god in a ceremony. However, it has been further expanded not only to the national ceremonies, but also to the ordinary people ot Korea in their daily home life. Furthermore, the tea has brought out many other important aspects in our lives. For example, it has lead to the development of ceramic wares used for drinking tea; introduced various kinds of food that can be eaten with tea; provided ideas for building constructions which was to be built for enjoying tea in a pleasant surroundings; and also lead to development of clothing that were proper attire for tea ceremonies Many classical scholars enjoyed writing poetries in Chinese. Among their poetries, there were many poetries that were especially related to tea. The importance of tea was apparent in their writings. Not only their thoughts and period of their lives were apparent, but the tea custom and psychological aspect of the tea were also apparent un their poetry. Among the confucianists, many classical scholars, as they enjoyed the tea, experienced and sought the important aspects of the tea and self-discipline. These aspects of tea not only represent custom or tea and its psychological aspects but also ruled its period of different thoughts and philosophy, artistic, and religions. We tend to observe our social and cultural aspects of our ancient times by studying the development of tea poetry. As our classical scholars have done in the past, by sharing a tea time together in the natural environment, the have gained an intimate friendship among themselves. Moreover, due to the fact that the tea served a great deal in human health, it has become an important part of our daily lives. Above all, through the cultural education literature of tea poetry, we hope to portray more accurate view of our cultural aspect or tea.
