이 연구는 국내 스포츠전문채널인 MBC ESPN, KBS N Sports, SBS SPORTS에서 제공하는 방송프로그램의 성향을 분석한 연구로 2009년 1월 1일부터 2009년 12월 31일까지 방송된 방송편성표를 바탕으로 연구되었다. 이에 구체적인 분류기준을 통해 도출된 연구결과를 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 방송사별 프로그램 분석결과 스포츠전문채널에서는 스포츠중계를 가장 많이 하고 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 스포츠중계회수는 SBS SPORTS가 가장 많았고, 그 다음으로는 KBS N Sports와 MBC ESPN순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 프로그램유형별 분석결과 스포츠전문채널 3사 모두 스포츠중계와 스포츠정보, 비스포츠 위주로 방송프로그램을 편성·운영하는 것으로 분석되었으며, 비스포츠의 중계방송비율이 상당히 높은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 스포츠전문채널의 콘텐츠분석결과 스포츠전문채널 3사 모두 프로경기의 생방송과 재방송비율이 매우 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 구체적으로는 MBC ESPN과 SBS SPORTS는 해외콘텐츠 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났고, KBS N Sports는 국내콘텐츠의 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 스포츠전문채널 3사 모두 몇몇의 인기스포츠 중계방송에 의존하고 있는 특징이 뚜렷하게 나타났으며, MBC ESPN은 축구, 농구, 야구, 골프, 테니스, KBS N Sports는 배구, 축구, 야구, 당구, 핸드볼, SBS SPORTS는 축구, 농구, 야구, 당구, 골프종목에 의존도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.

This study was to analyze tendency of broadcast programs that have been delivered by MBC ESPN, KBS N Sports, SBS Sports from Jan. 1st of 2009 through Dec. 31st. The results of this study were as follows: First, according to the result of program analysis of each broadcasting company there was the most relay broadcasting about sports. And for the number of hookup, SBS SPORTS telecasted the most sports program and KBS N Sports was the second and MBC ESPN was the last. Second, for analysis of program types, all of three broadcasting networks organized programs such as relay broadcasting of sports, sports information program, non-sports program, and the proportion of hookup about non-sports program was very high. Third, according to the result of content analysis about sports channel, the proportion of live broadcasting and hookup about pro sports game was very high in all three broadcasting networks. For MBC ESPN and SBS SPORTS, the proportion of foreign contents was very high and for KBS N Sports the ratio of domestic content was high. Fourth, those three television networks have relied on hookup of few popular sports programs. MBC ESPN mostly broadcasted soccer, basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, SBS SPORTS aired soccer, basketball, baseball, billiards, golf.
