대부분의 그리스도인은 하나님이 나의 문제를 해결해 주시고 나의 아픔을 치유해 주실 것을 믿고 있지만 실제적으로 자신들의 삶에서 이 진리를 반신반의하고 있다. 그러나 하나님의 거룩한 말씀은 분명 치유하시는 하나님으로 묘사하고 있다. 우리는 그분의 의지에 따라 기도할 수 있으며 실존의 문제 해결을 요청할 수도 있다. 주님 역시 치유사역을 행하셨다. 많은 무리들이 따르자 저희 병을 다 고쳐주셨다(마12:15). 뿐만 아니라 그의 제자들에게 가라고 명하시면서 병자들을 고쳐주라고 하셨다. 제자들은 주님의 명령에 그대로 행하였다. 더욱이 이런치유의 사역은 교회를 향한 주님의 명령이었다. 그러므로 교회는 전인적 치유가 일어나는 곳이다. 이 시대의 목회자들은 치유 사역의 책임을 감당해야 한다. 그래서 이 시대의 그리스도인들이 주 되심을 고백하면서 한편으로는 세상적인 절망과 고통으로부터 놓임 받아 진정한 진리 안에서의 자유 함을 맛보는 삶을 살아가도록 도와야 한다.

Most people believe God can heal but they are not sure it is His will. But we learn from God`s holy Word that it is clearly God`s will to heal. When we realize this, we can pray according to His will, and He says. Jesus healed all who came to Him. “Many followed him, and he healed all their sick”(Matthew 12:15). Jesus “healed all the sick”(Matthew 8:16). And Jesus commanded His disciples to go and heal the sick, which they did. Further, as previously learned, healing the sick is part of His Great Commission for the church age. Therefore, the church is place as a wholistic healing. Pastors take on more responsibility for healing ministry. The power and authority that pastor as therapists have relied upon gives way to equality as the wholistic healing.
