The purpose of this study is to investigate the employment situation of university graduates and to determine their roles and the characteristics in colonial times. To do this, this study investigated the employment of highly educated people, that is, college graduates and university graduates and compared two groups. Most highly educated people had great difficulty in getting jobs while graduates from Kyungsung Imperial University could easily take positions in colonial institutions. The Chosun graduates from the law school of Kyungsung Imperial University voluntarily adapted themselves and became the colonial ruling class. This fact shows that the characteristics and roles of Kyungsung Imperial University demonstrate the effectiveness of colonial ideology and to raise colonial bureacucrats. Chosun students at Kyungsung Imperial University pursued their class benefits as colonial bureaucrats instead of the nations`s benefits, and they adapted themselves to the Japanese colonial structure.
