이 글은 1925년 12월에 조선농민사가 발간한『조선농민』에 수록된 농민시를 중심으로 한국 근대사회의 대표적인 서발턴이라 할 농민들의 문학에 대한 인식과 농민시의 형성과정을 살펴보고자 하였다. 조선농민사의『조선농민』이 천도교 청년당의 기관지였다는 사실에 기대 그들의 이념과 문학을 상층의 지배적인 엘리트의 그것과 동일시하여, 그 가치를 협소하게 이해하는 시각을 비판적으로 고찰하려는 의도였다. 『조선농민』에 수록된 농민시를 통해서도 확인하는 바이지만, 농민들의 문예의식과 농민시는 상층의 움직임과는 별개로 독자적인 목소리를 가졌다. 이는 호를 거듭할수록 자신의 계급에 기반한 문예의식과 시를 창작하고 있다는 측면에서 확인할 수 있다. 그리고 이 같은 흐름은 조선농민사 운영을 둘러싼 법적관계망으로 조직개편이 있은 『농민』에 오면 보다 체계적으로 형성된다고 하였다. 그러나『조선농민』에서도 이미 농민문학에 전반에 대한 이론적 완성과 농민시의 모더니티를 확보하고 있다고 했는데, 이는 <농민문예운동호>와 허문일 등의 농민작가를 통해서였다. 『조선농민』의 농민문학과 농민시가 중요한 것은 농민들이 문학의 주체로 등장하는 과정을 구체적으로 보여주고 있기 때문이다. 한국 근대사회에서 민중의 대다수를 차지하는 농민들의 문학에 대한 의식과 지향은 한국 근대문학과 근대시 형성의 또 다른 경로를 보여주고 있다는 측면에서 매우 중요한 지점이라 하겠다.

This essay studied Chosunnongmin contained in focused on peasant poetry and literature awareness of peasants and the formation of peasant poetry. Chosunnongminsa`s 『Chosunnongmin』 was the bronchus of Chondoist young. That`s why the peasant`s ideas and literature of the upper was equated with that of the dominant elite. This essay is to review critically the view. As the reality of the ideology and literature Chosunnongminsa existed on the voices of peasants should be reconstructed in the center. Peasant poetry and literary consciousness of the peasants grew their own. Initially, short story and poems about undifferentiated awareness and traditional literary form was the song from the abstract to the target. However their ranks were based on the creative arts consciousness and poetry increasingly. Peasant literature and peasant poetry of 『Chosunnongmin』 important reason is that peasants are emerging as the subject of the literature. The formation of Korea`s modern literature and modern poetry has also shown a different path.
