Recently, industrial use of microwave radiation as an alternative to thermal heating process has been studied. Microwave radiation process results in considerable energy savings compared with convectional heating methods. This study shows that emulsion polymerization radiation reactions can be carried out rapidly using microwave radiation. It is new technology that styrene was polymerized by microwave energy with a change of microwave power, radiation time, surfactant concentration, initiator concentration, etc. Conversion of PS latex was shown from 40 to 90%. The maximum conversion was 95% at 585W of microwave power, 1.0% SDS, 0.06% of potassium persulfate concentration.
