현재 호산구성 담낭염은 일반적인 담낭염으로 판단되어 진단하지 못하는 경우가 많으며 스테로이드 치료로 임상적, 조직학적 호전을 보이고 수술을 피할 수 있다. 담낭염의 증상과 호산구가 증가되어 있거나 알레르기 질환, 생식의 기왕력 등이 있으면 호산구성 담낭염을 감별진단으로 의심해 봐야 한다.

Eosinophilic cholecystitis is a rare, poorly understood inflammatory condition of the gall bladder. It is characterized by transmural inflammation of the gallbladder wall in which more than 90% of the white cells are eosinophils. The etiology of eosinophilic cholecystitis remains obscure, although suggested causes include allergies, parasites, eosinophilic enteritis, and local reaction to gall stones. We report the case of a 66-year-old man who had eosinophilic cholecystitis associated with gall stones. (Korean J Med 76:467-470, 2009)
