1990년대 후반부터 중국에서 본격적으로 시작된 한류는 드라마, 가요, 영화, 게임, 패션 등 우리의 다양한 문화콘텐츠가 해외로 뻗어나가는 시금석이 되었다. 한류는 문화산업 자체의 수출로 인한 이익 뿐 아니라, 대중문하 이외의 수단으로는 얻기가 쉽지 않는 국가 이미지 제고에 크나큰 역할을 해 오고 있다. 이에 따라 우리는 국가이미지나 기업의 상품이 갖는 문화적 가치의 중요성을 재인식하고 대비하는 준비가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중국 내의 한류의 역사, 현황 및 문제점에 대해 살펴보고, 우리문화 산업계와 정부 및 기업의 대처방안에 대해 논의 하고자 한다. 한류를 통한 문화산업의 경제적 가치를 중시하여 당장의 경제적 이익만을 추구하려는 경향은 한류의 수명을 단축하는 지름길이라 할 수 있다. 한류는 궁극적으로 양질의 콘텐츠 공급을 통해 사회적인 효과와 경제적인 효과를 동시에 수반해야 하며, 한국에 대한 관심의 폭을 확대하고 재생산 하는 역할을 해야 한다. 우리의 문화산업이 해외에서 우리의 의도와 무관하게 한류라는 신조어를 만들 정도의 경쟁력을 갖고 있는 현 상황을 이어나가기 위해서는 학계, 정부, 기업 등 모든 이해 당사자간 보다 적극적이고 유기적인 협조가 필요한 시점이다.

The "Hanryu" phenomenon, the skyrocketed popularity of Korean cultures in many Asian countries, began in China in the 1990s. Hanryu paved the way for exporting Korean cultures through widely popular Korean television shows, popular songs, movies, computer games, and fashion. Hanryu has not only become lucrative cultural items but also contributed to the construction of positive images of Korea in other countries. Few other means can provide positive images of a country than popular cultures so that the value of popular cultures needs to be recognized. This study explores the brief history, current progress, and the problems of Hanryu currently taking place in China. By analyzing the reactions of the Korean government and industry to Hanryu, the authors argue that Hanryu should elicit, produce, reproduce, and broaden socially responsible and positive interests on Korea through quality cultural contents. A mere pursuit of economic success will result in diminishing the possible positive impacts of Hanryu. In order to continue to achieve competitiveness and positive consequences of Hanryu, all the stakeholders, including Korean government, industry, and academia, need to exert proactive efforts.
