Five fusulinid species belonging to Five genera are identified from one limestone bed of the middle part of the Geumcheon Formation near Gosuri area, Danyang coalfield. The fusulinids are Ozawainella turgida, Neostaffella sphaeroidea, Beedeina schellwieni, Fusulina sp., and Hanostaffella sp. Of these, Neostaffella sphaeroidea and Beedeina schellwieni have so far been reported from the lower and middle Moscovian strata in the Moscow Basin of Russia and China. The genus Hanostaffella has been known from the middle part of the Geumcheon Formation in Samcheog coalfield. Therefore the Geumcheon Formation in the study area is considered to have been deposited in the middle Moscovian age.
