The thai dance drama Raden Landai is one of few pieces of Phramahamontry(Sap) in Rama III`s reign which enhanced his reputation after his death. It is said that in the reign of Rama III, there were love affairs disputed between 2 Indians in Bangkok, a beggar(Landai) and a man(Pradu) who bred bulls. They disputed to take one woman, a slave-wife from Pattani(Pradae). Phramahamontri(Sap) has parodied this love affair with Inao of Rama II, a famous thai classical dance drama. But really he criticized the love affair in the palace between Chaojom Im and Phra Suriyaphakdi and satirized the behavior of the thai high(royal) society. He parodied Landai as Inao, Pradu as Choraka, and Pradae as Busaba in his work, which is regarded as Phra Suriyaphakdi, Rama III and Chaojom Im in orders. Raden Landia is not a story of the upper class people but, what is called, a story of the 4 persons who are not thai ; two poor Indian men, one slave woman from Pattani and one slave woman from Tavoy. The writer took low class people such as slaves, a beggar and a poor man etc. as the characters of the story not only to reflect their lives but also to metaphor their way of life by attacking and accusing against the upper classes. The writer also used techniques of parody and a humor and satire by using Rajasap(terms of reverence of royalty) with common terms and poetic words in sentences. Although there are some sides shown to protect the thoughts and lives of the upper classes under the absolute monarchy, this piece of work can be evaluated as a valuable satire literature.
