본고는 절대적 자연미를 추구하던 화예디자인의 표현방식이 현대에 이르러 혼합매체로 확장된 이유와 그 출현배경, 그리고 현재까지의 전개 과정이 어떠한 표현방식으로 이루어져 왔는가에 관한 의문으로부터 출발 하였다. 먼저 혼합매체가 화예디자인에 미친 영향과 표현 특성을 추출하기 위해 화예디자인 내·외부에서 논란이 되어왔던 혼합매체의 정의와 화예디자인에 관한 개념 확장을 살펴보고, 더불어 화예디자인에서 보다 적극적인 혼합매체의 도입과 형성을 종교적·미술사적 접근을 통해 알아보고자 한다. 종교적 접근은 우리나라와 서양의 화예디자인에서 보여지는 종교 상징물을 중심으로 하고, 미술사적 접근은 현대 화예디자인에서도 뚜렷하게 나타나고 있는 ``미``에 대한 재평가를 그 사례를 통해 살펴보고자 한다. 또한 화예디자인에 있어 보다 적극적인 혼합매체의 사용을 크게 식물소재가 갖는 생태적인 특징인 소재의 시간적 한계에 대한 재인식과 정형화된 도제 방식의 교육에서 탈피한 능동적이고 창의적인 조형욕구의 표출, 그리고 수요시장의 증폭과 표현영역의 확대에 따른 화예디자인의 경쟁력 확보라는 세 가지 관점 즉 소재, 내용, 형식으로 나누고 기존의 관련 논문 및 국내·외 문헌자료와 작품사례를 들어 본고의 기초적 근거로 제시하고자 한다. 이를 바탕으로 혼합매체를 활용한 화예디자인 작품의 표현 특징과 경향을 작가의 의도와 완성된 작품의 결과에서 추출할 수 있는 객관적 조형 언어에 분류의 기준을 두고 상징적·조형적 표현으로 유형화하여 이론적 바탕을 마련하고자 한다. 본고는 이러한 이론화 과정이 보다 자유로운 화예디자인의 표현과 화예디자인을 보는 새로운 시각을 제공하는 밑거름이 되기를 기대한다.
This manuscript will see and the expression method of Floral Art & Design which pursues absolute natural beauty which it boils will reach to a today and the reason which is expanded with Mixed Media from the doubt regarding and the appearance background and until currently the development process became accomplished in what kind of expression method and it came it departed. First, it observes definition of the Mixed Media and the concept expansion regarding the justice and Floral Art & Design which becomes the criticism from inside and outside the Floral Art & Design which extracts the effect where the Mixed Media goes to the Floral Art & Design and an expression quality, and it will examine introduction and formation of a more positive Mixed Media from religious and art historic approach. The religious approach is appearing clearly even from Floral Art & Design of our country and the West and the revaluation of ``Beauty``, the instance it leads and the reporter it does. Also there is the use of a more positive Mixed Media to Floral art & Design and the new understanding against the hour limit of the subject matter which is a mode of life feature which the plant subject matter has, it holds the competitive power security of amplification of manifestation and demand market of the spontaneous and originality moulding craving which exuviates from education of the apprentice method. It shares in subject matter, contents and type with the intentional fundamental ground which tries to listen to the relation dissertation and a domestic outside literature data and a work instance of existing it presents. Expression feature and tendency of Floral art & Design work which applies Mixed Media with the character which will reach with symbol and mould expression and an objection character standard of classification it will let in the objectivity moulding language it will be able to extract from result of intention of the author and the work. It sees the expression and Floral Art & Design where the objection process is freer the character which provides a fresh eye expects becomes.
