Recently, catalytic alkylation of phenol using solid acid catalysts have been studied to overcome the disadvantages of homogeneous catalysts such as equipment corrosion and pollution of the environment. In this study, solid acid catalysts used are zeolite H-beta, H-l3X, H-Y, Al-KIT-1, Si-KIT-1, clay. The main products are 4-t-butylphenol, 2-t-butylphenol, 2,4-t-butylphenol. It is revealed in this study that zeolite H-beta has higher phenol conversion and para-selectivity than others. Also, the selectivity to 2,4-di-t-butylphenol of the Al-KIT-1 is higher as compared to that of the other catalysts.
