20세기 전반기의 대표적인 서편제 명창 김창환은 신재효에게 판소리 지도를 받았기 때문에 그의 판소리에는 신재효의 직접적인 영향이 폭넓게 자리잡고 있다. 필자는 김창환제 <춘향가>와 <홍보가>에 끼친 신재효의 영향을 검토한 바 있는데, 본고는 그 후속 작업으로 김창환제 ＜심청가>에 끼친 신재효의 영향을 검토한 것이다. 김창환제 ＜심청가>는 정광수에게 비교적 온전하게 전해졌으므로 정광수의 ＜심청가＞를 통해 김창환제 ＜심청가＞의 실체를 가늠할 수 있다. 정광수의 ＜심청가＞를 통해 김창환제 ＜심청가＞에 끼친 신재효의 영향을 살펴본 결과 대략 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 신재효는 자신의 문하에서 지도를 받던 다양한 유파의 창자들이 부르던 ＜심청가＞를 자신의 세계관 및 판소리관에 입각하여 개작 정리하였기 때문에 그의 ＜심청가＞는 독자적 성격이 강다. 신재효의 ＜심청가＞는 김창환제 ＜심청가＞에 직접적인 영향을 폭넓게 끼쳤는데, 특히 초입부터 곽씨부인 유언 대목과 심봉사 황성 올라가는 대목 등 특정 부분에서 집중적인 수용이 이루어졌다. 서술 분량으로 볼 때 ＜신재효본＞의 약 25%가 ＜장광수본＞과 일치하는데, 그것은 ＜정광수본＞의 약 25%에 해당한다. ＜신재효본＞과 일치하는 것 중에서 아니리 대목은 ＜정광수본＞의 약 13%에 해당하고, 그것은 일치된 부분의 55%에 해당한다. 이러한 사실에서 김창환이 신재효의 문하에서 정창업의 ＜심청가＞에서 부족하다고 여긴 일부 특정 부분과 아니리 대목에 대해 중점적인 지도를 받았음을 알 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of adapted by Shin Jaehyo on of Kim Changhwan taught by Shin Jaehyo. The results are as follows: First, Shin Jaehyo adapted ＜Simcheongga＞ on the basis of various versions of ＜Simcheongga＞ sung by pansori singers who were being taught by him. It was rewritten wholly to the details with the influence of Shin Jaehyo, with the result of very independent ＜Simcheongga＞. Second, ＜Simcheongga＞ had a very wide and direct effect on ＜Simcheongga＞ of Kim Changhwan. About 25% of ＜Simcheongga＞ adapted by Shin Jaehyo is in ＜Simcheongga＞ of Jung Kwangsoo, and it amounts to 25 % of the latter. Aniri comes to around 55 % of the coincident part of the two versions. Hopefully, this study will contribute to correctly assessing the effect of Shin Jaehyo on `pansori and the study on Kim Changhwan`s pansori style.
