본 연구의 목적은 유치원 교육 활동 지도 자료에 나타난 평화교육 관련 동화를 분석해봄으로써 유아평화교육을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 제 5차와 6차 유치원 교육 활동 지도 자료에 제시되어 있는 170편의 동화 중 평화교육 관련 동화 총 84편이 분석되어졌다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 평화교육 관련 동화는 가치 및 태도영역에 편중되어 있었다. 둘째, 평화교육의 세 요소인 지식, 기술, 가치 및 태도 각 영역별로 하위범주 경향 역시 몇몇 하위범주에 편중되어 있었다. 셋째, 생활주제의 선정 이유와 평화교육 영역 및 하위범주간의 관련성에 따라 해당되는 영역과 하위범주가 편중되어 달리 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 우리나라 유아들을 위한 균형 있는 평화교육과정 개발과 평화교육관련 교사교육의 필요성에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.

This study analyzes the Peace Education related Stories for young children as found in the Guiding Materials for Kindergarten Educational Activities. A total of 84 stories related to peace education for young children were assessed. In the peace education category, analysis reveals that more stories are related to values and attitudes than to knowledge and skills. As well, the subcategories within each content category are unequally distributed. The implications of these findings are presented in terms of both peace education curriculum development and teacher education.
