본 고에서는 한국의 대표적인 북방계 유물 중 하나인 동물형 帶鉤의 계통에 대한 고찰을 했다. 한반도 세형동검문화와 동시기에 유라시아 초원지대에 분포한 흉문화의 대구형식과 분포지역을 살 펴본 결과 북방지역과 한국과의 직접적인 관계를 상정하기는 어렵다고 보았다. 필자는 기원전 5세 기∼4세기에 요서지방에서 초원계의 문화(동물장식)와 중국계의 문화(帶鉤)가 결합된 동물형 대구 가 만들어졌으며, 이후 燕國의 확장과 함께 동물형 대구의 전통이 본계-단동지구와 한반도의 세형동 검문화에 영향을 주어서 한반도의 동물형 帶鉤가 출현하는 계기가 된 것으로 보았다 한반도의 동물 형 帶鉤는 어은동과 사라리 130호분의 예에서 보듯이 세형동검 말기~목곽묘 초기 단계인 기원후 1세기∼2세기 초엽에는 최상위집단에서만 선택적으로 사용되었던 것으로 보인다. 같은 시기 중국 에서도 초원계의 동물장식은 최상위층의 고분에서만 확인된다. 기원후 2세기 중엽 이후 帶鉤는 특 정 집단(김해, 상주, 천안 등)의 기호품으로 바뀌면서 그 기능상에서도 변화가 온다. 이와 같이 동물 형 대구에 초원문화의 요소가 섞여있음은 분명하지만, 燕國과 요서지방 비파형동검문화권의 영향을 거치면서 한반도 만의 독특한 양식으로 재창조 된 것이며 북방과의 직접적인 교류를 의미하는 유물 로 볼수 없다.

In this work, author analyses the origin of the animal designed belt hooks found in Korea,which have been regarded as the one of distinguished artifacts show the cultural relation between the Korea and the Northern Steppe of Eurasia. In order to trace this connection, author compares the animal designed belt buckle(or belt plaque) of Xiongnu, the widespread nomad culture in Eurasia, synchronous with Slender Dagger Culture of Korea. But, author can`t find any concrete evidence of correlation between Korea and Xiongnu in belt hook tradition, Because, practically, the belt hook was not so popular in Xiongnu, and the analogies of animal style in Korea wasn` t found among the animal designed plaque of Xiongnu, Instead of Xiongnu, author suggests that the prototype of the Animal Designed Belt Hook occurred in the Western part of Liaoning Province, under the influence of dynasty Yan and Northern barbarian culture of Hebei province (type Jundushan). As the expansion of dynasty Yan to the East, the tradition of the animal designed belt hook could be spread over to the South Korea. In the 1st A.D, the animal designed belt hooks in Korea were interred only in the supreme burial with rich grave goods, but from the mid of 2nd A.D., the animal designed belt hooks were found among the ordinary burials. For this reason, we could assume that the animal designed belt hooks functioned as prestige good in the 1st A.D., and since 2nd A,D to 4th A.D,, it lost function as prestige good and were made as favorite in some regions, like Kimhae and Cheonan of South Korea.
