요인분석은 미생물군집에 관한 환경상태 등의 결과를 조사하기 위해 1990년 2월부터 12월까지 계절별로 광양만에서 실시하였다. 이러한 목적을 위해 17개의 생물 및 무생물적인 환경요인들은 15개 정점에서 조사되었다. 광양만의 생태계는 사계절동안 5개의 주 요인에 의해 영향을 받고 있었는데 특히, 담수유입, 질소성 무기영양염류와 수온상승이 미생물군집에 영향을 미치는 주 요인인 것 같다. 조사된 요인중 질소성 물질과 부유성 물질, 수온과 미생물군집 등이 1982년 조사된 요인들의 수치에 비해 크게 증가되었다.

The factor analysis was applied to examine the effects of enviromental conditions on microbial populations in Kwangyang Bay from February to December, 1990. For this purpose, 17 abiotic and biotic parameters were determined for samples obtained from fifteen sites. Ecosystem in Kwangyang bay was regulated by 5 factors for four season. The microbial population was influenced mainly by the inflow fresh water, nitrogenous nutrients and water temperature. The overall size of microbial population was greater than that obtained in 1982.
