본 연구는 어머니의 사회적 지원과 양육에 대한 난이도 지각이 아동의 사회적 능력에 미치는 효과를 검증하기 위해서 만 4세, 5세 아동 90명과 그 어머니를 대상으로 조사되었다. 아동의 사회적 능력은 교사의 평정과 또래 지명법에 의해 측정되었고, 어머니의 사회적 지원과 양육에 대한 난이도는 질문지에 의해 수집되었다. 경로분석 결과, 측정변인에 따라 다른 경로를 나타냈으나 어머니의 사회적 지원은 직접 또는 간접적으로 아동의 사회적 능력을 예측하였으며, 간접적 영향의 경우 양육에 대한 어머니의 난이도 지각이 매개 변인의 역할을 하였다.

The Purpose of this was to examine the effects of social support for mothers, their perceptions of the difficulty of parenting on a child`s social competency. The subjects were 90 children, ages 4 and 5 and their mothers. Children`s social competency was measured by peer nomination and teacher ratings. Mothers responded to a questionnaire regarding the difficulty of parenting and the level of social support. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, pearson product-moment correlation and path analysis. The results showed a mother`s perception of social support directly, as well as indirectly, predicted a child`s social competency depending on the social competency measures. When a mother`s social support indirectly predicted a child`s social competency, perceptions of parenting difficulty mediated the effects. Perceptions of parenting difficulty as mediators of social support were discussed in addition to the variation in the paths due to the social competency measures, types of social support, and parenting difficulty.
